About the Accountability Program

The Interest-Based Advertising Accountability Program regulates online behavioral advertising (OBA) across the Internet. OBA uses information collected across multiple unaffiliated websites to predict a user’s preferences and display ads most likely to interest consumers. Leading industry associations developed seven Principles which businesses are required to follow. The Accountability Program is charged with providing objective, independent, and vigorous oversight and enforcement of the Principles, with the goal of promoting compliance with the Principles by all companies within the advertising ecosystem.
